Cross Country is a co-ed sport for grades 4 - 8 to introduce students to long distance running. The meets are held once per week in September and October for six weeks at Cazenovia Park. The length of the race is 1.5 miles on grass and trails. Practice is held twice per week in the evening at Queen of Heaven. Runners of all abilities are welcome. Cross Country is a great complement to many other sports such as soccer, basketball or track
Track is a Spring sport open to students 8 years of age and older.
1) Please send the Permission Form and a $15 check in an envelope marked “Sports” to the school office by the last day of school. Roster spots cannot be guaranteed if you do not sign up by the end of this school year.
2) Valid Sports Medical Physical Form must also be on file with the School Nurse. If you do not have a valid Sports Physical Form call your child’s Doctor. If your child’s medical form at the school is NOT valid you will be notified. The Medical Sports Physical Form is good for 1 year. Both forms must be turned into the School Office or to the coach before any player can practice.
The Queen of Heaven Cross Country Team completed it's 2011 season Monday at Cazenovia Park in windy and cold conditions. Father Dave Baker of Our Lady of Victory parish led the team in a prayer before the meet. Congradulatios to our four runners who represented Queen of Heaven so well: Alex Hartnett, Patrick Healy, Diana Henshaw and Patrick Henshaw.
"The Championship meet for the 2012 Cross Country league was held Monday in a perfect day for running at Cazenovia Park. Patrick Healy led the Queen of Heaven team with a 17th place finish out of 130 runners. Fellow sixth graders Andrew Hartnett and Patrick Henshaw also had strong showings. Eighth graders Diana Henshaw and Alex Hartnett finished out their cross country careers by running together for the entire race. Queen of Heaven school should be proud of the hard work and determination displayed by these five runners. Congratulations to all for another great season!"
