Thank you to everyone that attended our Meet the Teachers Night. Hopefully you got a sense of why I’m so excited to start this year! Our staff is dedicated and determined to provide only the best education for your family. If you did not get to sign up for a December Parent/Teacher conference you can contact the teachers directly (K-4th grades) or call the office for 5th-8th grades.
In last week’s Family Envelope parents of students in grades 4-8 received their child(ren)’s results of the ELA and Math State testing. Of the students that took the tests, we had 63% passing in ELA and 48% in Math. The state, as always, has issued mandatory Academic Intervention Services (AIS) for students that fall below a prescribed scaled score. Using our block schedule times in grades 4-8, we have implemented AIS and small group assistance during class time and additional AIS class times during the day for grades 3-5. Over the next few weeks, teachers will be assessing the needs of all the students to determine the students most in need of after school AIS. After school AIS will formally begin during the second trimester (late November/early December).
Thank you to our volunteer Athletic Director Mark Molloy and all of our volunteer Fall sports’ coaches. It is a tremendous responsibility to coordinate the amount of teams, players, coaches, fields, gyms, etc. Thank you parents for signing up on time and being flexible and patient in the decisions that are being made on behalf of our teams. Winter sports are just around the corner. Please consider whether or not your child will be playing and possibly volunteering to help with a team. Please see the electronic version of the Wednesday envelope on the website for any more information or forms.
Thank you to our Laurie Radwan and the HSG volunteers for putting on a great Food truck/Tailgate last Sunday. It was so much fun to share a great Bills win for family and friends. Don’t forget to sell your candy bars by October 30! Each fundraiser helps to support our school.
Finally, thanks to all the came to our final Masses for Fr. Tom. After 18 years of service to the school, he will be missed. Thanks to Fr. Dave for stepping in and steering the ship! Fr. Dave will have a Blessing of the Pets this Saturday at 11:15 in the front of the school. Come and bring your pets big and small!
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
