Welcome to the end of October! Time is flying by here at Queen of Heaven. The first quarter is about to come to a close. The daylight hours are getting shorter and the weather outside is getting colder; however, here in the school the academics are heating up in full force.
This Thursday is Halloween and Buddy Day. Our primary students are preparing by learning songs in Spanish and English. Our eighth graders are making altars for El Dia de Los Muertos. Students in grades K-8 are allowed to bring costumes to school to wear later in the afternoon. PreK will be wearing their costumes to school! Friday is All Saints Day. We will be going to Mass at 9:00 for the Holy Day.
Congratulations to our Quiz Bowl participants: Christina Ferderico, Hannah Rola, Patrick Healy, and Andrew Nigrelli. The students did a great job keeping cool under pressure! Good luck to our Math Bowl participants on November 6. Thank you to everyone that support the Baby Bottle Drive. Congratulations to 3rd grade for bringing in the most bottles. Congratulations also go to Gianna Pezzini for winning the free school lunch! Gianna liked us on Facebook and shared the page. Finally, Congratulations to the Radwan and McCormick families for winning I-Tunes cards for selling more than 1 Entertainment book. Thanks to Mrs. Clifford for spearheading this fundraiser. Queen of Heaven is full of talented students!
Thank you to our Home School families for putting on two successful Halloween parties this past weekend. I was under the weather and couldn’t attend, but I heard wonderful things from the kids that went! Thank you too to all the coaches and volunteers of our Fall sports. From soccer, volleyball, baseball, and cross country, your leadership and support for the children makes a big difference!
Just a reminder that this Thursday is the last day for wearing shorts for the uniform. Please consult the handbook. Also, for safety and security reasons, please remember to send in notes when a child is being picked up early from school.
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
