This past Monday, we were treated to a wonderful prayer service by our third graders. In their First Communion clothing, the 3rd graders paid tribute to Mary in prayer, song, and a crown.
I am pleased to welcome Miss Jennifer Downie to our building. Jennifer is an employee of Catholic Charities and will be working full time in our building as a social worker/counselor. Next school year, Jennifer will be with us three days a week. Miss Downie will be working with individuals, groups on a case-by-case basis and in classrooms doing character education presentations. If you would like to request her assistance in any matter, please phone the office. Miss Downie’s introduction letter is included on page 6 of this newsletter.
I am also pleased to announce that Mrs. Carrie Thomas will be back to work this week. A special thank you to Mrs. Pat Metz for stepping in and expertly taking over the reins.
In a time when schools are reducing their fine arts and extracurricular programs, ours is getting bigger and better! Our 8th grade bell choir was chosen to perform at Mt. Mercy’s Spring Concert . Our third and eighth grade students submitted 2 large pieces of art work to the Albright Knox Gallery and won 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Eight 7th graders received a check for $75 for the purchase of their digital photography. Our second Robotics team participated in a Vex Competition at the Public Library. Thank you to all the teachers and students that continue to make our program strong.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
