Thank you to everyone that attended our 5K race last weekend. Between the weather, community support, and the exercise, it was a great day to be at Queen of Heaven. Thank you to Mrs. Achatz, Mrs. Bloom, and all the HSG volunteers.
A few weeks back it was proposed that the traffic pattern in the front drop off area be reversed. I have been in contact with safety officials to get their advice, and they said that the problem with reversing the direction was that all passengers need to be dropped off on the passenger side of the vehicle. This would be difficult for older students that ride in the front seat. At this point the idea is being tabled. I would like everyone to remember though, that this is still a NO PARKING zone. Please have the students exit the vehicle in a timely manner so that traffic does not become congested. Double parking or using both lanes for traffic is not a safe practice.
This week we inducted 11 eighth grade girls into our National Junior Honor Society chapter. Thanks to Miss Ernest and Miss Kuberka for taking on this project as advisors. I look forward to seeing their leadership and citizenship skills at work in our school and community. I am also looking forward to hearing the speeches of our 4th -8th grade students that want to take an active role in student council this year. Our assembly will be on Monday with the winners announced after Mass on Thursday.
Last weekend I was honored to give a tour to the graduating class of 1980 that assembled for a Queen of Heaven 35th reunion! It was great to hear their stories and memories of our school. Welcome Home!
October is just rolling by now and we are looking forward to our Buddy Day and Halloween Parade at the end of the month. For those that are new to the school, our Halloween parade takes place in the gym. This year’s parade will begin at 1:15. Many of the classrooms will be having a party and looking for volunteers. If you are free, please consider joining us on Friday, October 30.
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
