Happy October! As we begin to feel fall in the air I’m still amazed at how many beautiful days we have! Just like that, we are nearing the 6th week marking period. October is a busy month! Thank you to all that came out to race, walk, or help with the 5K. It was such a great event despite the rain. Thanks to Mrs. Bloom, Mrs. Boyd, & Mrs. Was and all the HSG volunteers for organizing our kick-off to Anti-Bullying.
During the months of September and October we are focusing our Character Education on TRUSTWORTHINESS. Mrs. Schieber’s 3rd grade homeroom and Miss Perry’s 5th grade homeroom presented a wonderful original song on the meaning of trustworthiness. At the end of October they will sing the song again and we honor those students that showed the trait of being trustworthy. We had our first Merit Store this week! It was amazing to see how many students earned merits from different teachers throughout the building. Congratulations. I look forward to seeing even more students at the store at the end of the month!
New this year we are going to recognize in a big way more than 75 students that make up eleven different sports teams this Fall. On October 17 we will have our first ever Pep Rally for fall sports. Athletes can wear their sports uniform for the day. Lifetouch will be on campus to take team and individual photos. All are welcome to attend the rally at 8:15AM.
On October 24, eight members of our 8th grade will be inducted into our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). A ceremony will be held in the church at 8:30AM with a parent reception to follow in the Church Hall. Speaking of 8th grade, the retreat for the class held at the Seminary couldn’t have been more amazing. All the students had positive things to say about the experience and are a much closer unit because of it. Special thanks to Betsy Amico, Bob O., Fr. Greg & Fr. Dave for a wonderful day.
God bless us on our journey together, ~Mary Damico, Principal
