Welcome back! It is good to see all the kids again and get back into the swing of learning. The past few days have been very busy getting the kids adjusted to new schedules and routines, getting report cards out, and preparing for parent conferences. Twelve weeks have come and gone quickly. I am so proud of all that we as a community have accomplished! One of the biggest questions has been about makeup days. We will be in school on January 30. This was previously going to be a Professional Development day. We will use it to end Catholic Schools Week!
A few important notes as we begin the season of Advent and beyond:
·The PK and 7th graders are collecting canned goods for the West Seneca Food Pantry. These items will be presented during the offertory at the Shepherds’ Mass on 12/18.
·Monday, December 8, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass is at 9:00.
·There will be a prayer service and Buddy Day on Thursday, 12/11, instead of Mass.
·We are collecting unwrapped toys to donate to St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy until December 15.
·Honors’ Breakfastfor grades 3-5 is on 12/9 @ 8:00; Honors’ Breakfast for grades 6-8 is on 12/10
A time honored tradition here at Queen of Heaven is our Christmas Concert. Each grade level performs along with our Bell Choir. It is a wonderful event to see and hear. This has ALWAYS been a well attended event. Now, more than ever, we needed to adjust our concert to accommodate all of our families. While there is no easy solution, we have decided to continue with one concert held on 12/19 @ 9:00 a.m. To keep in compliance with fire codes and safety, we are sending home 2 tickets per family. If you are in need of more tickets, please phone the office. We will be live streaming the performance to our cafeteria for additional seating and video taping the concert for a small charge of $1.00 for a dvd copy. Tickets will be coming home on Monday, December 15. Students are released to families directly after the concert from their homeroom. Parking, as you can imagine, will be tight. Please come early and carpool if you can. Thank you for your understanding.
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
