Our Advent Season has come to a close here at school. The students have learned about the Bible stories of the Jesse Tree, made crafts and presents, had an Advent prayer service, and collected toys for Toys for Tots and gifts for the Veteran’s Hospital. Our goal this season was to learn about giving to others. Through the month the students have shown this and much more!
Last Thursday we had a wonderful show of giving during the offertory at Mass. The shepherds, sheep and drummer boy, let the procession to the altar with many donated items to give to our Veteran’s Hospital. Thank you to Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Hanley, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Luthart, and Miss Carrie for helping make the Mass so special.
Our Toys for Tots campaign culminated in a presentation of 5 large boxes of toys to the Marine corps. I’m sure there will be many grateful children that will receive them. Well done and thank you to Mrs. Biggie and the 6th graders.
This month we had our first ever live Geography Bee. Thanks to the organization of Ms. O’Connor with help from Mrs. Bala and Ms. Martina. Our contestants were poised as they answered difficult questions in front of a live audience. Congratulations to First Place winner Mary Catherine Cook, Second Place winner Andrew Hartnett, and Third Place winners Michael Suda and Patrick Healey.
Thank you to the many volunteers that have offered their time and talents to make the first half of the year special. All of the invaluable volunteers at lunch, our wonderful Home School Guild, our coaches, our substitutes and our classroom and office volunteers.
For those of you that are staying home during break, I hope it is restful. For those that are travelling, safe journeys!
May God bless each of you this holiday season and provide blessings for a happy and healthy New Year!
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
