Happy New Year and welcome to 2014! I hope that everyone had a relaxing holiday. We are a little late with the newsletter due to the snow days that we had last week.
This afternoon we received news from the Diocese of Buffalo that Queen of Heaven is to remain open. We believe that we have a great program to offer students to grow in both knowledge AND faith. We are proud of our strong faculty, parent support and parishoners. Thank you for all the prayers and support that have been given for the staff and myself. A parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 21 in the cafeteria to discuss what the implications are for our school and Catholic education in our area as we go forward. Please consider joining us at that time.
Our primary team has begun a dynamic addition to their reaidng program. Based on individualized assessments, students are group for one period a day at their instructional reading level. During this period we have eight dedicated professionals engaging students in reading and writing. We are having an informational Parent Meeting on Tuesday, January 28 at 6:00PM to provide insight on guided reading groups and Standardized Report Cards. The meeting is open to parents in grades K-2 and any interested PreK parents.
I am looking forward to my first Queen of Heaven Catholic Schools’ Week Breakfast. Marco Cercone and family will be cooking a wonderful breakfast for us on January 26 after 8:00 and 9:30 Mass. Please visit our Wednesday envelope online to get your tickets ahead of time. We will also be giving tours interested families from 11:00-1:00. If you can offer some time to help, please email: email@example.com
God bless us all on this journey together! ~Mary Damico, Principal
