Mrs. Kelly Gulino - Art
Teaching Philosophy and Educational Approach:

Art class is a place for students to think outside the box, tap into their imagination, and freely express themselves. In the art room, each lesson encompasses aspects of art history, contemporary art, and visual culture. Students will learn the fundamentals of art and art making, how to read and discuss a work of art, and the impact art has on our everyday lives.  The art program offers students opportunities to discover a wide variety of
materials, techniques, and artists. Students will \ discover artists and movements from different cultures and time periods, as well as learn about today's artists and the public art around us. Goals of the art program is to help generate visual learners, critical thinkers, and build a personal connection to the arts through hands-on experiences and creative exploration.

Mrs. Donna Biggie - Spanish PreK - Grade 5
Teaching Philosophy and Educational Approach:

All of my students are a unique and precious gift from God.  I strive to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable, secure, and are challenged to expand their knowledge.  Spanish speaking, reading, and writing skills will be taught.  In addition, students will be introduced to and foster an appreciation of Hispanic culture.  The ability to communicate in a language other than English prepares students to be high school, college, and career ready in our diverse world.

Miss Melanie Orffeo - Computer Technology

I believe technology integration should prepare students in new technological advances that are constantly changing. In our classroom; all students are actively engaged where they learn how to become responsible digital citizens. We provide and learn about internet safety, use critical thinking and collaboration skills for problem solving and effective communication. Through their journey at the Queen of Heaven School; they will complete a variety of projects that enable them to become productive and caring members of our community.

Mr. Joseph Morgan - Physical Education
Teaching Philosophy and Educational Approach:

I believe that the Physical Education curriculum must be diverse enough to allow every student the opportunity to participate in activities which provide success and enjoyment.  Through the Physical Education experience the individual should have the opportunity to develop cooperation, tolerance, sportsmanship, leadership, loyalty, respect and honesty.  Physical Education is also provides a revenue to develop personal living skills, knowledge and skill acquisition and the development of a personal value system which act as necessary catalysts in the development of an individual becoming an informed, healthy, productive and concerned citizen.

Mr. William Texido - Music
Teaching Philosophy and Educational Approach:

I like to create an atmosphere that promotes music literacy for all ages and encourages all students to connect with music aurally, visually and kinesthetically. Music is a valuable part of life and it is important to understand that music is a reflection of society and that sometimes society imitates music. Playing, composing, listening to and critiquing music are all essential in creating a well balanced musical life.

Mrs. Linda Wach - Library and Academic Intervention Services
Teaching Philosophy and Educational Approach:

I believe each student is a unique individual and should be recognized for their distinctive contributions. Within that framework, I also realize students have diverse learning styles. My goal for the AIS program is to assist students in reaching their highest learning potential while supporting their individual learning styles. I envision literacy success for all students at Queen of Heaven and will strive to achieve this goal so all students can reach their goal for success.
