Girls Volleyball - Grades 5-8
Girls Volleyball is a Fall Sport, and the season lasts from late-August to early-November. Girls Volleyball is available to students in grades 4 through 8.
Girls Varsity Volleyball - Queen of Heaven participates in a Diocesan girls varsity volleyball league. The league's matches begin in early September and end in early November. The season consists of 12 - 14 matches that could take place on any day of the week or weekend. Many of the matches might include "double headers" against another school. Generally, half of the matches will be at home (in the QOH Gym) and half will be on the road, depending upon gym availability. The matches are best of three games with rally scoring. Typically, QOH's varsity teams participate in one tournament (such as the St. Mary's H.S. Tournament in Lancaster in early October). If the team does well, there is a Diocesan playoff tournament that takes place at the end of the regular season, in early November. Parental volunteers for scoreboard operation at home games and line judging at ALL games is requested.
Sixth graders are eligible to play Varsity Volleyball, but written consent from the Principal and Athletic Director is required. Fifth graders are not eligible to play on a Varsity Volleyball team.
Girls JV Volleyball - QOH's JV Volleyball team is comprised of 5th and 6th grade girls. The JV team participates in a very informal league designed to teach the game to younger athletes. The regular season consists of 8 – 10 matches with no playoffs. The coaches in this league determine the dates, times and location of the games. Home games are played in the QOH gym. Practices generally begin in early September and the season ends in mid-October. JV Volleyball is a great introduction to the game and helps prepare the athletes for varsity.
